Hi, I’m Maggie!

I’m a multitasking multiracial multimedia multihyphenate (whew, that was a lot). I am the co-creator, showrunner, co-head writer, and an actor in the award-winning web series Admitted. I am also the creator, showrunner, writer, a director, and an actor in the dramedy mystery web series Inattentional (coming soon).

I am the founder of In Harmony Montclair. I was the host, producer, and editor of the podcast Second Semester Seniors.

I'm currently a senior at Boston University where I am majoring in Film & Television and am in Kilachand Honors College. I was also a Spring 2024 exchange student at Sciences Po Paris.

I am a storyteller who uses Writing, Acting, and Producing to inspire, uplift underrepresented voices, and challenge perceptions.

Even before I could talk, I was a storyteller.

As a baby, I would babble on the phone with my grandparents, no words forming but clearly telling a tale. Growing up, I learned to say “oh goodness” unironically because of the Midwestern side of my family and I developed an ear for French through my Haitian side. As I listened to my family, I realized that these two cultures are more similar than they may seem: both have taught me to value community, and faith, and also that family extends beyond blood relatives. I am drawn to creating projects that use dialogue on screen to encourage dialogue in the community to promote finding common ground with those who may seem different than you. So I keep writing. I am always up to something.

  • Producing

I was the Producer and Assistant Director for Art House, a multi-camera television sitcom episode filmed in front of a live studio audience in Spring 2023 in the Booth Theatre. The production was a collaboration between BU’s College of Communication and the College of Fine Arts.

New York Times Education BRiefing

“To find camaraderie, Maggie started a podcast: ‘Second Semester Seniors.’ In each episode, she speaks directly to the high school senior experience, offering tips for self-care, hosting candid discussions with peers or asking a guidance counselor about helping students apply to college during the pandemic.”

Broadway World

“Voting Rights films include Teens Talk Voting, based on interviews with teenagers all over the country, and The Power To Vote, a documentary about Boris Franklin registering to vote for the first time after incarceration and reflecting on what voting means to him. These films chronicle voters' real-life experiences and emotions, and are directed by Maggie Borgen, the latter in collaboration with Ari Laura Kreith and Turron Kofi Alleyne.”

Montclair Local

“Having the [Harmony] concert be entirely student-driven and -created, to make a difference, is empowering to the young people involved, Borgen said.”

“The podcast is called Second Semester Seniors, and it’s attracting a following—and got a recent mention in The New York Times. Borgen has interviewed her school guidance counselor about trends in college admissions and asked other high school seniors for their candid advice—all from the same room at home she uses to tune in to remote classes at Montclair High School, a public school in New Jersey. Appropriately, the microphone in her makeshift studio is propped on an SAT study book."
